The Scottish Inland Waterways Association is the official voice of Scotland's inland waterways with British Waterways, Scotland, the Scottish Executive, National Parks Authorities and other representative bodies. Individual membership is open to all who have an interest in Scotland's  inland waterways and corporate membership is open to canal societies and commercial operators.. An elected Council, which meets approximately six times a year, looks after the day to day running of the organisation and formulates the policy of the Scottish Inland Waterways Association.

The Scottish Inland Waterways Association is a registered charity and receives no income from the Scottish Executive or British Waterways. It is completely independent and impartial in its  dealings with the authorities and in its campaigning for a secure future for Scotland’s inland waterways on behalf of all users. The Association is a company limited by guarantee with no share capital.

Save Our Waterways - Although the reduction in the money DEFRA  pays  to British Waterways mainly affects BW south of the border there will be a knock on effect in Scotland. If you care about the waterways, please go to the Save Our Waterways web site and do what you can to help.
