The Festival of Fire and Water at Greenock, June 2003.

These photos were taken by Pam, Dave and myself and mainly cover the journey to and from Greenock and our stay there. I know it was a Fire Engine event and I am sorry that I have very few fire engine photos but my excuse is that I wasn't there for most of the weekend!

At Bowling

In the sea lock. It is a bit dark but it was only 6.15am!

Looking back to the Erskine Bridge. This one doesn't need lifting for narrow boats!

Illusion, the other Narrow boat on the trip. Jay had devised cunning flaps to protect the air intakes should we have encountered waves.

April and Ralph on Illusion

The big ship which wasn't supposed to be in the shipping lanes at that time! Still, she slowed right down for us. The VHF chat was interesting at this point.

Not the clearest of photos but it gives an idea of the amount of water we were on!

The reception committee at Greenock. We arrived before anyone expected us.

Captain Dave

The two narrow boats

In the harbour with the old dry dock behind us.

Back out to sea to prepare for the photo shoot.

Quite relaxed about the whole affair now

Getting into line, otherwise known as formation boating

Mirk having been lifted up - he is no light weight!

Safe at last! My thanks go to the SAR team for getting the dogs off the pontoon for me.

Sunday.

Geoff taking the easy way down

Just a small step onto the roof of Illusion.

Going along very nicely. Not such a nice day today

The new BW trip boat at the Falkirk Wheel.

Approaching Greenock harbour with Helensburgh just visible across the Firth of Clyde.

A bit too close for comfort! Our second attempt at posing for the camera!
