Santa has a trip
Every year Santa visits Broxburn on the Saturday before Christmas and we take part by taking him from Drumshoreland, where he leaves his sleigh, to Port Buchan in Broxburn where he is met by a large crowd. After chatting to the children he continues his journey by pony and trap. This year, we were able to take Santa along the canal in style with Roseann's new canopy looking just right. Dave and Ann got Roseann ready and then along came Gudmund with Silkie, his lovely little stream launch. After Santa had safely parked his sleigh and put his reindeer in the BW stable, he and his little helper, Bristow Muldoon, MSP, got aboard Roseann for the short trip to Port Buchan where they disembarked. Here we were joined by Ian and Claudia and John and Eva and as it was still sunny we decided to all go back to Drumshoreland and get the canopy off and the winter tarpaulin on. This was not an easy job and resembled wrestling with an octopus. However, when we were satisfied that the tarpaulin was as secure as possible, we moved Roseann back to her mooring. Some members then helped Gudmund get Silkie back on her trailer at Stuartfield.
